Service of the Gift

We have a beloved tradition of providing gifts to children at Main Street Child Development Center, ACCA Child Development Center and Shaw Community Center during Advent. This year we are supporting 150 children by taking gift tags from the BOSJ table in the atrium by December 3rd and heading to the store to fulfill specific childrens' holiday wishes. Gifts that are purchased for these children will be brought forward during our Service of the Gift on Sunday, December 10 at 5pm. During this service, we read lessons and sing carols as we watch the Christmas scene unfold, with Mary, Joseph, and Jesus taking shelter in the barn while shepherds and magi surround them. We bring our gifts forward during the service, filling the chancel and our hearts with joy. This year, the Christmas scene will be bookended by a contemporary Advent scene, adding a bit more theater to the production (thank you actors!). Please invite your families and friends to this Service of the Gift, which will be followed by a reception in the social hall. Nursery care will be available from 4:30-6:30pm.
