School Backpack Donations

It’s time to help children in our community by providing backpacks and school supplies. Neighbor to Neighbor (N2N), which provides resources to refugee Afghan families in our area, needs the following backpacks this year: 1 backpack for grade 9 (darker color), 16 elementary (color preference is green), and 1 for a preschooler (a gender neutral color, please). These backpacks need nothing added as other organizations will provide the supplies. The deadline for bringing the Neighbor to Neighbor backpacks to LRUCC is July 30. Please sign up in the atrium.

The black backpacks for middle schoolers are all already accounted for. Great job!

In August we will collect backpacks for Second Story. Its residential programs provide housing, counseling, and life skills support for teenagers experiencing crisis and young people experiencing homelessness, including pregnant and parenting young women and their children. Please have the Second Story backpacks at Little River by no later than 3 p.m. on Tuesday, August 8. The backpacks for Second Story should be medium to large (for both boys and girls) and include lined paper, a spiral notebook or composition book, pens, pencils, pencil pouch/holder, crayons, scissors, and glue sticks.
