If you love the beauty and vitality of the Potomac River and want to know whether its revival will continue, please join Mary Vasse, Vice President of the Potomac Conservancy, for a discussion of what the future holds for our hometown river on Sunday, August 28, following the worship service (around 11:15 a.m.).
The Potomac River is healthier and cleaner than it has been in decades. Fish, birds, and other wildlife populations are rebounding. But the river faces new challenges. Will the Potomac be cleaner or dirtier in 10 years? Will it be safe for swimming? How does climate change impact the river and the species that live in it? What are the biggest threats to the health of the river and what are some of the solutions we can be a part of to help its recovery?
The Little River United Church of Christ community has been a part of this recovery and revitalization for the Potomac River through volunteering, learning, and much-appreciated financial support. We all have a stake in the Potomac’s progress. We hope to share and discuss more on August 28.
