Juneteenth: June 19

Juneteenth

Wednesday, June 19, 9:30–11:30 a.m.

Join us for an observation of Juneteenth on June 19. We will begin in our sanctuary with a brief history of Juneteenth (participate in this portion online at bit.ly/LR-Juneteenth). We’ll then walk to Little River Turnpike by our LRUCC sign to mark the day, holding signs such as “Black History is American History,” “Black Lives Matter,” and “Honk for Juneteenth”! We'll conclude with a re-enactment of the Emancipation Proclamation in our parking lot. Written reflections from contemporary voices will be posted around the parking lot, and light refreshments will be provided. Please bring your young people for this important day of learning and action!
