Guest Preacher: Al Fuertes
Former LR member and ongoing friend the Rev. Al Fuertes, Ph.D., is our guest preacher on Sunday, November 24. He is a full professor in the School of Integrative Studies in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences at George Mason University. His areas of interest include global education and cross-cultural learning; psychosocial trauma healing as a component in peacebuilding and community development; sustainability of indigenous communities and more. He is a field practitioner and consultant who specializes in community-based trauma healing as an integral component in peacebuilding and conflict transformation.
Dr. Al Fuertes was a recipient of the 2019 Global Peacebuilder Award by the Daniel Fissell Music Foundation, the 2019 Outstanding Sillimanian Award for his work in peacebuilding and conflict transformation, the 2015 Spirit of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Award, the 2014 Oscar Mentoring Excellence Award, the 2008 GMU Teaching Excellence Award and the 2001 AT&T Asia-Pacific Leadership Award.
His sermon is titled “Offering to God a Collective Life in Gratitude.”
