What is First Friday?

First Friday is a parents' night out program, designed to give parents an evening free to themselves while volunteers provide creative and exciting entertainment for the children in a safe and fun atmosphere at the church.

First Fridays take place 6:30-9:30 p.m. on the first Fridays of October, November, December and February, March, April. Each session features a special presentation as well as age-appropriate games, crafts, stories, and lots of imaginative fun. Dinner is provided for children and helpers.

First Friday welcomes all children in our community, whether or not their families attend Little River UCC.

General Registration

Each child attending First Friday must have on file an individual registration form that includes basic information about the child, parent's or guardian's contact information, medical and insurance information, permission for emergency treatment, a release form for photos and videos, and the parent’s or guardian's signature. A new form must be submitted for each child every new season (October-April).

• at the First Friday table on pre-registration Sundays
• at the church office
• First Friday Registration Forms online

We encourage parents to register their children online. Forms submitted online will be printed and available for signing at the registration table on First Friday.

Session Pre-Registration

Pre-registration for each First Friday session is required in order to staff First Friday adequately for the safety and well-being of the children and allow planning for program expenses, food, crafts supplies, and games. All children under 2 years old must be pre-registered to ensure that proper care is available. Pre-registration for each First Friday starts two Sundays before the event. The deadline for pre-registration is 12:00 noon the Wednesday before the session.

Late Registration

For a slightly higher fee, parents may register children after the deadline, including on First Friday starting at 6:00 p.m. Registration after the deadline is first-come, first-served and is only offered as space allows.

Fees

The First Friday registration fee, which is purposely low, is charged to defer the cost of food, crafts, supplies, and entertainment. The fee is non-refundable. Those who pay in advance and experience a change of plans can convert the fee to a donation to the church.

Pre-registration is $8 for each child, up to a maximum charge of $22 for all children in an immediate family. You may:

• pay in person at the pre-registration table
• pay at the church office by mail or in person by the pre-registration deadline
• pay at the door on First Friday.

Registration after the pre-registration deadline, if space remains, is $10 per child, up to $24 per immediate family. Pay at the door.

The fee for one child is waived on a night when the child's parent works with the First Friday crew. Two children come for free when both parents work.

Join the Friday Crew!

If you're an adult or teen who enjoys children, crafts, cooking, or just having fun, join the First Friday crew for an exciting and entertaining Friday night. First Friday needs volunteers to be leaders of each age group, game masters, kitchen crew members, and crafters. (Are you the one who always finds something interesting for the kids to do on a rainy day?) First Friday is also the perfect place for people who can't get enough of babies – but who also enjoy giving them back at the end of the evening!

As mentioned above, each parent who joins the crew for a night earns free entry for one child that evening.
