Feedback for David Lindsey

Deadline Saturday, February 28

The Rev. Dr. David Lindsey joined us on June 30, 2014 as our new Senior Pastor.  Since his arrival, David has been interested in seeking feedback on his role as our senior pastor.  This month we are giving the congregation the opportunity to provide feedback on the following areas of David’s involvement in church life:

  • leadership of worship services
  • sermons
  • administrative responsibilities and oversight
  • pastoral care and communications

A small team is helping with this:  Brian Payne, Barb Lowrey, Jason Thompson, and Tom Ross.  You may contact them at any time to share your thoughts, confidential or otherwise.

Please be in touch no later than Saturday, February 28, so we can provide David with feedback the first week in March.  We will be undertaking more formal evaluations of both Hank Fairman and David in the future and will keep you informed about the timing.

Coming Soon

Sixtieth Anniversary Worship Celebration

Sunday, March 1

On February 27, 1955, our new church was welcomed into the fellowship of the Congregational Christian Church, a parent denomination of the soon-to-be-created United Church of Christ.  This year marks sixty years since that service of worship and celebration.  We will begin a year-long celebration of our sixtieth jubilee during worship on March 1.

Lenten Soup and Discussion Series

Sundays, March 1-22

This Lent, we will spend time reflecting on our congregation’s sixty years of ministry in Annandale, in Fairfax County, in Virginia, and throughout the world.  Each session will be shaped by the newsletters, annual reports, photographs, and historic items lovingly tended in our church archive. Meals begin at 5:00 and the discussions at 5:30.  Themes, drawn from the "generational theory" research of William Strauss and Neil Howe, will include:

  • March 1: Calling to All the People, “The Prophets*”—1955-1970
  • March 8: The Middle Years, “The Nomads”—1970-1988
  • March 15: Becoming Little River, “The Heroes”—1988-2000
  • March 22: Radical Hospitality, “The Artists”—2000-2014

To help with cleanup, you are encouraged to bring your own dish and utensils.

Intersections: Sacred Conversation on Race

Sunday, March 1

We are a congregation founded and grounded in affirming all people, regardless of race and ethnicity. To deepen the Sacred Conversation on Race and learn how race intersects with many justice issues, we gather on the first Sunday morning of each month at 8:30 for prayer and thought on the continuing issues of racism. Please join us for our next conversation Sunday, March 1 in Room 8.

First Friday: Shamrock Shenanigans!

Friday, March 6

First Friday is a children’s night out program, designed to give parents an evening to themselves.  Volunteers provide creative and exciting entertainment for the children in a safe and fun atmosphere at the church.  The program starts at 6:30 and ends at 9:30.  Dinner is provided.

First Friday is for children aged six months through 12 years. All children in our community are welcome, whether or not their families attend Little River UCC.  The cost is $15 per child, with a family maximum of $30.  If you pre-register by March 1, the cost is $10 with a family maximum of $25!
