Christian Education for Infants and Children

Child Care
Infants and Toddlers

Infants and Toddlers are welcome in the Infant Care Room staffed by our professional care provider and by members of our church. The room is equipped with appropriate toys and equipment. This care is available during both worship services, 9:30 and 11:00 a.m. Parents must complete a sign-in sheet.

Older Children
Child care is available at 11:00 am for children ages three to nine who do not wish to attend worship or whose parents attend meetings or class at that hour.

Sunday Morning Worship
Worship for all Ages
All children join the 9:30 a.m. worship service the first Sunday each month to enhance and expand their knowledge of the worship experience. The worship service is adapted to their interests and style.   Communion is served and children are welcome to receive the bread and juice at their parents’ discretion.  Children age 3-5 may attend church school following the Time with Children in worship.

Summer Sunday Worship
Children age three and older begin worship in our single 9:30 a.m. service. Following the Time with Children, children may remain in worship or attend a summer activity class provided for children ages three through 9.  Child care is provided for infants through age two.

Sunday Morning Church School
Godly Play Class

Children age 3, 4, and 5 are introduced to Bible stories through the Godly Play program at 9:30 a.m. following the Time with Children in worship.

Multi-Age Class
Children age 6 to 11 are invited to attend multi-age, active learning classes using Seasons of the Spirit, a lectionary-based curriculum.  Children begin in worship at 9:30 a.m. and may attend class following the Time with Children.

Presentation of Bibles
In recognition of our commitment to nurture children and families in their spiritual quest, we present bibles at various stages of development.  When a child is born, a pastor brings the gift of a children's bible story book.  When a child reaches six years of age, we present a family story bible, to encourage learning and growing together as a family.  When a child reaches eight years of age, members of the family pass a new bible from eldest to youngest to emphasize the powerful links that strengthen the lives of children when families participate in their spiritual growth.  And when a young person is confirmed, we present the Oxford Annotated New Revised Standard Version Bible.
